    Bauce Girl Crush: Jhene Aiko

By now, you’ve heard her pretty little voice accompanying Drake on “From Time”. But let us be the first to tell you we’ve had this up-and-coming siren on our radar for quite some time. And take it from us, if you haven’t given her a listen yet—get to it.

Jhene (pronounced JUH-NAY) Aiko is our new girl crush for one simple reason: girl can sing. Not only are her vocals a beautiful blend of soul and simplicity, her whimsically feminine sense of style has us stuck.

The 25-year-old Los Angeles native’s newest EP “Sail Out” features seven songs and we have had it on repeat since the November 11 release date. We selected a few of our favorite songs from the EP to give you an idea of what you will be getting yourself into when you buy it. Because you will. Trust us.

    1)    “The Worst”

Aiko shows a sultry side on this track. Switching her usual alternative-inspired vocals for more of an R&B sound. With strong, gripping lyrics “The Worst” is an ideal song for any girl going through a tiff with her man. Put this song on your girl power playlist and remind yourself why you don’t need him anyway.

    2)    “Stay Ready (What a Life)”

Aiko teams up with fellow Californian Kendrick Lamar on this track. The more than six-minute song is an ode to relationships, life and letting love in. This might be our perfect song on the EP because its lyrics, beat and composition are radio-,tweet- and quote-worthy.

    3)    “Bed Peace”

Perhaps the most successful single from the EP, “Bed Peace” has a chill Cali sound matched with Aiko’s melodies and Childish Gambino’s subtle bars. The song makes for the perfect easy Sunday theme song. And with Aiko’s rumored relationship with Gambino, the song is that much better. Check out the video below!
