The banana is a well-known superfood since it provides many health benefits, some of which include being a great source of fiber which aids in digestion. Banana is a great source of potassium which helps the body in removing excess sodium. Aside from what it can do to our bodies on the inside, bananas also provide several beautybenefits that we can enjoy on our skin, face, and hair.

Here are ways on how we can use this handy fruit in our daily/weekly beauty regimen along with your favorite Skinfood product:

    Face Mask

For a weekly mask routine, you can make a DIY facial by mashing a banana and mixing it with one tablespoon of organic honey. Mix these ingredients in a bowl and apply on face. Let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly with water. This mixture is perfect for adding extra moisturizing elements to your skin and is usually recommended for those with normal skin types.

For people with oily skin, combat oil and shine problems by mixing one banana and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Make sure to mash banana before adding in the juice and mix until it creates a paste. Apply on face and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing off. The vitamin C in lemon is a natural brightening solution which helps you achieve a radiant and glowing complexion.

For people with dry skin, extra hydration is needed to boost your skin’s protective layer. For this hydrating mask, mash 1 banana with a ½ slice of avocado. Add a teaspoon of honey and mix well into a paste. Apply on your skin for 20 minutes and rinse off with water. Avocados help battle fine lines while honey is a natural antibacterial agent that fights off micro bacteria that lives in our skin.

    Hair Mask

Aside from applying bananas to our face, our hair can also enjoy the numerous health benefits that this super fruit can offer. One example is an anti-dandruff hair mask solution that keeps your hair and scalp clean. To start, mash two bananas in a bowl and add 2-3tablespoons of honey and mix well. Apply concoction on damp hair and wrap your hair in a shower cap. Allow the solution to sit for 20 minutes before removingthe cap and rinsing off thoroughly. Make sure to use warm water when rinsing tohelp get melt and get rid of the honey faster.

    Removes Puffy Eye Bags

Sleepless nights and habitually burning the midnight oil can take a toll on your skin especially around the sensitive areas around your eyes. Thankfully, bananas can be used as a natural eye bag solution that helps remove its puffy appearance quickly by drawing out excess fluid under the skin. To use, mash a bit of banana and apply it to the affected area for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water afterward. You can also use the inside of a banana peel to help reduce the appearance of puffiness. Acne Treatment

Aside from de-puffing eye bags, the inside of a banana peel can also be used to treat redness caused by acne since it contains vitamins that help reduce inflammation. To treat, rub the inside part of the peel on the affected area until it turns brown. Interestingly enough it can also applied on bug bites and itchy areas on the skin as a first-aid solution before heading to the pharmacy.

    Body Scrub

Body scrubs are generally a must-have since it helps sloughs off dead skin cells to allow new cells to form. To create a homemade body scrub, mash a banana and mix in with two tablespoons of organic brown sugar. Apply all over the body in circular motions to exfoliateand get rid of dead skin cells. Rinse thoroughly and pat your skin dry after.

Another alternative mix would be to mix 1 mashed banana with dry oatmeal and coconut milk. The oats help remove dead skin skills while both the banana and coconut milk act as hydrating properties to keep your skin looking soft and healthy.

When it comes to creating several beauty products you can apply on your daily/weekly regimen, using natural ingredients like bananas can help boost your body’s intake of natural vitamins without necessarily adding in extra chemicals from suspicious sources. Bananas is one of the most versatile fruits available and can be purchased from any grocery store or supermarket. When selecting a banana, make sure to use organicsince they are free from pesticides and are less likely to harm your skinduring use.
