What To Do If You Have Been Diagnosed With Diabetes

By BAUCEMarch 7, 20203 Mins Read

It’s one of the most common chronic illnesses in the United States. Yet 1 in 4 people affected by it doesn’t know that they have it. It affects over 30 million people in the US alone and kills an estimated 80,000+ deaths a year and is number 7 in the country’s leading causes of death. As such, if you receive a diagnosis of diabetes, you may assume that life as you know it is over. But rest assured this condition is completely manageable and in some cases totally reversible within 10 years. A diagnosis of diabetes needn’t necessarily be a death knell…

But it should be considered a wake up call. If you have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes you’ll likely ask yourself “what now?”. Here we’ll look at some of the ways in which you can reverse the damage that led to this diagnosis and restore your body to its former health and fitness…

It’s not just about cutting out sugar

While diabetes is related to your blood sugar (and you’ll undoubtedly want to cut processed sugars and other sweet treats out of your diet as soon as possible), it’s an over simplification to assume that this is the only lifestyle change you need to make. It will almost certainly mean that you should reduce your intake of saturated fats and LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) which means that high-protein meat-heavy diets are a no-go. You’ll almost certainly want to think about getting more active. But more than anything, you’ll need to be honest and introspective with yourself.

Ask yourself how you got here

Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body becomes resistant to insulin, or your pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. And while there are some genetic predispositions to diabetes, it is usually brought about by lifestyle choices. So, what about your lifestyle needs to change? Have you spent to long sitting (which increases the risk of diabetes)? Have you not been exercising and leading a sedentary lifestyle? Have you been eating too many processed sugary, fatty and salty treats? Being honest with yourself is the only way to make the changes that will reverse your diabetes and restore your health.

    Consider naturally sourced remedies

While diet and exercise are extremely important in managing diabetes, you may also find that medication helps to keep your blood sugar stable. But if you don’t like the idea of prescription meds, there are natural remedies out there that may prove effective. Take a look at what customers of Halki Diabetes Remedy say. The right remedies could start to show tangible results in as little as 21 days.

    Switch to a plant-based diet

Finally, a wholefoods plant-based has been proven time and again to be extremely effective both in preventing and treating type 2 diabetes. These nutrient-rich, low saturated fat, low sugar, high fiber diets are also great for lowering cholesterol and stabilizing blood pressure. They’ve even been linked to cancer prevention. But just remember vegan doesn’t always mean healthy. Make sure you don’t get too over-reliant on heavily processed vegan foods and meat substitutes.
