The upbeat and whimsical sounds of summer are wonderful for warm weather and taking it easy, but it’s time to get back to business. Autumn is a time of change, refocusing and bundling up for a cold winter ahead. Need some tunes that are more in line with the season? We’ve rounded up five albums that need to be in your ears ASAP.
Album: Two Eleven
Artist: Brandy
The 90s singer is back full force with a great look and an even better sound. After taking over the radio waves with “Put It Down” featuring Chris Brown, Brandy has claimed her spot back on playlists worldwide. The album also features hits “No Such Thing As Too Late” and “Music” that guarantee the former Moesha star a place back on top.
Album: Kaleidoscope Dream
Artist: Miguel
A crooner this fine should be on our playlist year-round. And lucky for us, Miguel isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The singer recently released his highly anticipated album and has consequently received an immense fan base. Groove to “Do You” and the chart topping “Adorn” while enjoying the fall freeze.
Album: Girl On Fire
Artist: Alicia Keys
Our favorite piano playing diva is back on the keys for her soon-to-be-released album. Now a mother and well-seasoned singer, the New Yorker has been working on a new sound that is all her own. The ever-popular “Girl On Fire” and its many versions along with “Not Even The King” are favorites already. This album is slated to be one of her biggest yet.
Album: good kid, m.A.A.d city
Artist: Kendrick Lamar
The once underground artist has broken the mainstream barrier with his acclaimed “Swimming Pools (Drank)” single and proves to be an emcee of substance with his newly released album. Lamar’s rhymes provide listeners with a back to basic hip hop vibe mixed with soul and struggle. This album is perfect for those late study nights before fall midterms.
Album: One Woman Army
Artist: Ciara
Miss One-Two-Step is back in the game with a new sound, new style and even new (blond) hair. The singer has taken a hiatus from the music scene but is back in full force with a candid album set for a winter release date. “Sorry” and “Got Me Good” are some of our favorites already. Ciara is back right in time to catch the leaves change and we are more than excited.
