Don’t let society sell you. Sell yourself.
You are beautiful. More beautiful than you will ever recognize. And no matter how dark your skin is or how light your touch, you will always be someone worth being with.
I know society wants to beat you down. Wants to tell you no. Wants to strangle you, ring you like a shirt in the wash, and throw you out to dry. But you are someone worth living for. You are someone worth being.
There was once upon a time when I didn’t believe in myself. I thought I was useless. I thought that no one would want me and I wouldn’t amount to anything because I was from the wrong side of the railroad tracks. I got in a bunch of trouble, hung out with the wrong guys (who I thought I was in “love” with) and ended up having two miscarriages because my insides were so messed up from the vile diseases that I caught. I didn’t even know my own self-worth. Didn’t know who I belonged too. Didn’t know who I was supposed to become. I let society sell me. And they sold me out.
So know yourself, little sister. Don’t ever let someone else try to tell you who you are. Don’t ever think you need to fight for someone’s attention.
Because you are worth knowing. You are worth fighting for.
