I recently transferred to Fordham University in the Bronx and I was not offered housing. That being said, I either had to find an apartment or drive two hours every morning to get to an 8:30 am class. Of course I picked the former choice. Next I had to find a roommate. Found one, met up with her, and she was so nice. After a few more days of talking I realized she was going to be a nightmare.
She doesn’t know how to do laundry, wash the dishes, put the toilet seat down after using after going to the bathroom, sweep the floor, NOTHING! I don’t think she’s ever heard of common courtesy either. Before we settled for the apartment we are currently living in, she would go look at apartments with her friends and without me. She’d tell me if she looks at apartments after the fact. No consideration whatsoever. See, that’s what happens when you’re spoiled.
Everything is spoon fed to her. She has even said, “Oh yea, my grandpa gave me this credit card without a limit.” I am so thankful that I am not her. Even though my parents were hard on me, without them I wouldn’t know how to do the simplest of household chores. I know how to take care of myself, hence the independent woman that I am today.
I never thought I would be in this sort of situation. Maybe this is happening because I need to learn some hard lesson on patience or keeping my mouth shut, because in reality, I’ll probably meet people that areworse.
