Mmm. Drake couldn’t have sung it any better. Those same lines pop into my head when the fool forgets to call two days after the hook-up. Or I can’t even expect him to call. What do they do these days? Text. Mmph. Oh, the digital age.
Whatever. Whatever his mode of communication, no communication is not an excuse. Unless you were just in it to toot it and boot it. Fine. I get the picture. But after a long winded relationship and many months of smiling, wining, and dining, he drops the whole “I’m changing and I’m not really sure if a relationship is what I want right now” bomb on a chick? Boy, you stuuuuupid.
It’s funny how some men never really understand who you are until you’ve walked out of their life. It’s become a rule in my dating book–not not even a rule and actually fact about men. They always come back. I mean ALWAYS come back. Like stray dogs. Or like Quinn on Single Ladies. (Yikes and shiver at that scene in the eighth episode on season one). It’s always after-the-fact, post-mortum, when the tests have been scored that a fool wants to decide that you were the one. After putting you through the suspense of sleeping with a broken heart. That’s when they want to rise up all of a sudden and get a great idea. What does any of this means to me?
It means I’m a diamond. And a big ol’ shiny rock because I’m clearly too awesome for you to realize my greatness that I’m blinding you with my light. Seriously. If the future’s so bright, then why don’t you just wear shades, boy?
I’m single and I play the dating game. But it always amuses me to see the ways in which guys come to terms with who you truly are. What it teaches me as a woman on the search for her soulmate is that time is of the essence and sometimes patience is key. We girls mature faster it’s a fact of life. And we all experienced it. The boy who used to tease and say we had cooties in elementary school ends up being your high school prom date. Let the men come to senses with what they want; don’t ever rush into a relationship or stay in one that’s not worth it. Either way, soon enough they’ll realize what they could have had. If they had just gotten it together and grown up.
Besides. He could be the best thing you never had.
